On Friday we celebrated ‘Number Day’ throughout school.

In Year 6 we started of the day solving our classes clues in the whole school Maths Mystery- Who are the Gingerbread man?

Some of the maths skills we needed to use included: ordering large numbers, knowing maths facts to answer true or false questions, using co-ordinates, breaking codes and more….

Luckily we were able to successfully find the ‘suspect’!

After we had solved our mystery we focused on looking at how people use maths in their chosen careers. We looked at doctors, teachers, bakers, athletes and even police officers and discussed how number was used across each profession.

We then created our own powerpoints in which we chose three careers to focus on and explore how they used maths.

We then presented our findings!

Who knew the police use algebra!
