At the end of our first R.E. topic, Loving, the children in year 6 shared ideas of how best to rejoice in our learning. We shared a meaningful liturgy, during which we reflected on what we had learnt throughout the topic. The children chose to listen to the story of The Prodigal Son, as this taught us a great deal about the importance of forgiveness and God’s unconditional love. As we reflected on God’s word, we all thought about how we could show God that we are loving every day of our lives. The ideas showed that we recognise what it is to love our neighbour: forgiving someone who has hurt us, giving up some of our time to help somebody, helping with jobs at home that we do not enjoy doing etc. We shared these ideas and, as our mission, we promised to live some of them out.
