We worked with Marcus from cycling generation to develop our mapping skills. We started off by reminding ourselves of the different points on the compass which we talked about and labelled. We then had some time in pairs to explore the map before we started to practice using grid references to locate physical and human features in our local area. We worked in pairs to do this and afterwards, we did the opposite finding the features and giving the grid reference where it was located. Next we found different places and things using the symbols key on our map. Lastly we thought more about how a map is set out and how important the grid is, not just to use grid references to find places but also to help calculate distances.
