This week in science we were learning about the different parts of a flower and their functions. We thought first about the vocabulary and their definitions and labelled them on a diagram before dissecting a flower of our own to see for ourselves some of the parts of the flower. We dissected tulips and could easily see the petals, the stigma, style, anther and filament. We could see where the ovary of the flower would be however we could not see the ovules inside.

I will be sending home an overview of our new Science topic which includes some key concepts and pieces of vocabulary that might come in handy when supporting your child at home.
