Today we started our new topic in DT. It’s all about structure. Over the course of the topic, we will be designing a chair for baby bear. Our first lesson was all about stability. The children used play-doh to make some 3D shapes, Next, we investigated which of the shapes was the most stable. We did this by placing the shape on to a piece of card then raising the card slowly. As soon as the shape started to move, we froze, then measured the height of the card. We had to record our findings in a table. We found out that the cube was the most stable. This is because it has a wide, flat base and is low in height.
