This month, year 1 visited the Castle Keep in Newcastle after it’s recent refurbishment with lottery funding. After learning about homes from long ago and reading well known fairy-tales featuring castles and palaces, the children were excited to investigate the Keep for themselves. They had fun looking in the chapel, chambers and peering down the kings toilet. Their little legs were exercised by climbing to the top of the castle to see the fabulous views across Gateshead and Newcastle. The children finished the day by making their own cut and stick castle in the Black Gate activity room.
