Year 1 have loved learning all about capacity and volume in Maths. To begin, Year 1 made predictions about which container had the greatest capacity. Then, they used water to fill each container all the way up to the top to find out which container could hold the most water. The children discussed their findings with each other and they were so excited when their predictions were correct. Next, Year 1 started to measure the capacity of different containers using cups of water as the measurement- they had so much fun using the water area in their Maths lessons. After, we moved onto volume. Year 1 learnt about the key words to use when describing volume such as: full, empty, nearly empty and nearly full. Year 1 have tried so hard in their Maths lessons and have been so engaged in their learning. Super Maths Year 1!
