Year 1 had lots of fun this year on World Book Day.
Everyone brought their own book in from home to share with the class. First of all the children stood up at the front of the room one by one, and briefly explained what their story, or book was all about. We looked at the front cover, the author, illustrator and the blurb of each book.
The children then chose a partner and using a five minute timer they swapped books for that length of time. The children did this a few times before writing a simple review of their own favourite book.
After this Year 1 continued our whole school story which began in Nursery and then Reception class with two mystery objects. Our classes object was a silver ballerina and she was incorporated into the story as a fairy called Twilight. The children really enjoyed listening to the previous chapters, and were very excited for the end of the day assembly to see what Years 2 to 6 would have in store for Twilight in the continuation of the whole school story!
To end the day everyone was given a World Book Day voucher. Don’t forget to take yours to a participating store to claim your free book. Happy reading!
