This has been such a busy term. We have had fun in our role play area, which has been set up as “The Three Bears’ Cottage”. We have really enjoyed listening to and playing all sorts of traditional tales. The children have loved them. The repetition of familiar phrases really helps with language development. There is such a lot of maths related vocabulary that helps with counting, size and comparing objects.
You don’t need any special toys to play games with children. Some of our favourite games start with an idea and then looking around to see what we can use. Some of the photos above are taken from “The Billy Goats’ Gruff”. The bridge is made from blocks, Some very basic tabards, (which we use for all manner of games) are the goats’ fur and a couple of bits of carpet make the fields. These are often the most popular games that we play.
