The children in the Early Years Unit returned to school full of joy and enthusiasm to learn, having enjoyed celebrating Easter with their families at home. We have had a very busy two weeks.
We have been investigating plant growth; talking about what a plant needs to grow; parts of a plant and the functions of each plant. We enjoyed planting broad beans and cress and are watching them grow. We filled our garden planters with new plants and are hoping for some colourful blooms soon!
We were fortunate enough to have a visit from the Gateshead Music Service who delivered an excellent workshop on African Music. Lots of our children are here from Africa and so really enjoyed this celebration of their musical heritage. We learned a variety of traditional African call and response songs, had a go at playing the Djembe drums and enjoyed some African dancing.
