As part of our learning about seasonal change we went to Saltwell Park to look for signs of Autumn. The morning started off misty so we found lots of spiders webs in the dew. We collected a variety of leaves, berries, conkers, nuts and seeds to use in our Autumn collages back at school. We saw a few squirrels, one was burying his nuts. We told him to remember where they were when he was hungry in Winter! There was fungi at the base of the tree trunks and wild rose hips on the bushes.
We asked the many kinds of wildfowl if they were “going on holiday” for the Winter as we’ve been looking at Migration! We searched through the piles of leaves as some of us wanted to find a hibernating hedgehog! We’ve done some super Number work with the natural materials we’ve found.
Before returning to school we visited the play park and got the chance to show off our climbing, balancing and swinging skills!
