As part of our learning about celebrations we found out why people celebrate November 5th each year. We enjoyed the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot and built Houses of Parliament in block play. We used a printing technique to make our Fireworks in sky pictures.
We enjoyed learning about the festival of Diwali which is celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs at this time of year. We decorated our hands with Mehndi patterns, and made firework pictures. We made some Diya lamps as Diwali means “Festival of Light” and some beautiful Rangoli patterns with loose parts.
