Today Reception followed the Sculpture Trail in Saltwell Park. They were made of many different materials: some were very old and others were new. We talked about why the sculptures were there. There were sculptures that helped us to remember important events and people and others that made us feel loved. There was even a sculpture that had “I love you” written in different languages. Lots of our children know more than one language.
We talked about a sculpture that had plants growing in the middle of it. Some people thought it looked like a slide, a staircase or a bridge. It was, in fact, a model of half of the Tyne Bridge. Some of us have seen the Tyne Bridge, when going to Newcastle.
