On World Book Day, Year 4 took part in lots of different book related activities. We started the day with our usual guided reading session. We are looking at Stig of the Dump by Clive King this half term, and we were sequencing the events of chapter 7.
We followed this by hosting a ‘World Book Day Social’ where we gave a speedy book review to a partner before switching round. This was a great way of finding new books to read and to enjoy.
After break we formed groups to take part in a scavenger hunt around the school. We looked in the school library and in other classrooms as well as our own to find the items we needed.
We also watched a film of the illustrator Quentin Blake explaining how to draw some of his most famous drawings – Willy Wonka and an Oompa Loompa! We all had a go at drawing each of the characters and the results were pretty impressive!
Later in the day, we designed our own bookmark to use when we are enjoying our new World Book Day book.
We also started an Escape Room activity before having a sharing assembly in the hall where we heard the full school story that we had contributed to this morning.
All in all, we had a pretty busy book filled day.
