This year to celebrate World Book Day, we decided to all wear our pyjamas and bring along to school our favourite cuddly toy and our favourite bed time story. We spent the day in our classrooms enjoying some World Book Day activities. In Nursery we have been making World Book Day book marks. In Reception we have been talking about our favourite books and sharing our bedtime cuddly toys. In Year 1 we enjoyed reading with Year 5 and writing books reviews on the books we brought in from home. In Year 2 we read with Year 6 and also enjoyed watching bed time stories with Tom Hardy whilst drinking hot chocolate. In Year 3 we have enjoyed reading to the nursery children and writing about our favourite book. In Year 4 we have enjoyed doing character descriptions of our favourite story book characters. In Year 5 we have enjoyed reviewing books, writing our own picture books and carrying out a word scavenger hunt. In Year 6 we have been busy writing letters to our favourite author, diary entries as our favourite characters and even acting out chapters from our favourite books. We also had the opportunity to pair up with another class and be reading ambassadors. We had Nursery and year 3, Reception and Year 4, Year 1 and Year 5 and Year 2 and Year 6. Each Ks2 class read our chosen partner from Ks1 a bed time story whilst cuddled up with our teddies. They then shared with the smaller children the type of book they enjoyed reading and explained why reading is important to them and important in school. Key stage 2 did a fantastic job of inspiring some the younger children by sharing their reading habit with them. We had a lovely time reading together, luckily it was in the morning as some of us were so relaxed we could easily have snuggled up for a snooze!
