The aims of the school, as laid out in our prospectus, are:

  • To foster the intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual and moral development of the child.
  • Their knowledge and understanding of the Christian, and particularly, the Catholic tradition.
  • Their respect for the beliefs of other people and traditions.
  • To ensure a command of basic English and an ability to communicate with others.
  • To encourage an enjoyment of reading.
  • To develop a knowledge and understanding of basic mathematical concepts.
  • To encourage scientific observations and curiosity.
  •  To develop:
    • an awareness of our local and national heritage through historical and environmental studies
    • an awareness of the world, its regions people and cultures
  • To give all children access to all elements of the strands of ICT over a period of time, and develop the ICT capability of each child
    • the two strands are:
      • communicating and handling information.
      • controlling monitoring and modelling.
  •  To teach skills in handwriting, handicrafts and other creative activities.
  •  To provide an opportunity for physical activities, drama, music movement and mime.
  •  To help children to realise that courtesy, good manners and consideration for others are important qualities and help to create a happy school environment.
